The Creek Wood Red Hawks will travel to Lipscomb Academy for a tough region test

Halfway through the season, the Creek Wood Red Hawks are at a crossroads. They’ve lost three straight and now face a road trip to Lipscomb Academy, who many have predicted to win the Region 6-4A title.

“They’re a good football team and are well coached,” said Creek Wood coach Chuck Daniel.

“It’s going to be a tough challenge, but I look forward to it and I think the kids look forward to it.”

The Mustangs have only played twice this year and sit at 1-1 on the year. Their week one game against Page August 26 was cancelled due to inclement weather. They beat Clarksville Northwest 10-7 before losing to John Overton 34-7. Daniel doesn’t look at the fact that the Red Hawks have played more games as an advantage.

“We’ve all had the same amount of practices,” said Daniel.

“They’re not as beat up as we are. We’ve got injuries to starters, and they don’t. It’s not really an advantage, but at the same token, we’re getting more kids on the field.”

The Red Hawk offensive line will have to account for Mustang defensive lineman Rutger Reitmaier. The talented four-star prospect is ranked 11th in the state of Tennessee according to 247Sports, and is committed to playing his college ball at Oregon.

“You don’t game plan for one person,” said Daniel.

“You game plan for their system. Obviously we have to account for him, and we’re going to try to play to their weaknesses.”

Creek Wood lost last year’s meeting between the two 35-7 in their first region matchup.
