Creek Wood coach Chuck Daniel finds himself in a familiar position, as his team sits at 1-1 for the third time in as many seasons.
The good news for the Red Hawks, is they now come into tonight in a favorable matchup as they host Montgomery Central in their first Region 6-4A game.
“They’re a good ball club,” said Daniel.
“They’re run-oriented and run the triple option, which usually gives coaches nightmares. We’re going to have to play assignment ball.”
A few tidbits regarding the game.
1. Quinton Poole has rushed for over 100 yards (including over 200 in the opener against Dickson County) in the first two games, so look for him to possibly continue that streak.
2. Hayden Boone was able to break out of his offensive slumber last week, as he had three catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Look for his offensive production to continue to climb as he becomes acclimated to the tight end position.

Creek Wood head coach Chuck Daniel talks to a group of players before Saturday night’s kick off against Fairview.
3. The Indians snuck into the Class 4A state playoffs with a 2-3 region record, but were bounced in the first round 40-0 by Pearl Cohn. They lost a lot from that team last year.
4. The challenge of preparing for an offense as unique as the triple-option during practice is one where Daniel and his team must be cautious in how they approach it on defense, as one missed assignment can result in a big play.
“Some offenses are designed to confuse defenses, and that’s what the triple option does,” said Daniel.
“We have to play assigment football instead of just flying around and playing crazy. We have to play under control and to our specific assignment.”
