KNOXVILLE — The King’s Academy and assistant football coach Antonio “Tiny” Richardson have reached a mutual agreement to part ways, school athletic director Marc Weekly said Sunday.
The King’s Academy head football coach Matt Lowe, left, stands with the school’s new offensive line coach Antonio "Tiny" Richardson in February.
Richardson, a former Tennessee football standout who played at Ensworth HIgh School in Nashville, was hired as the school’s offensive line coach in February.
“The King’s Academy is very thankful for the work coach Richardson did with our football program and we wish him great success in his future endeavors,” Weekly said in a statement to the News Sentinel.
Richardson never coached a down for the Lions, though he did work with the team during spring practice this year. The former UT offensive lineman was hired as a non-teaching assistant.
The news of his departure comes less than a month after he referred to police officers as “pigs” in a Twitter post.
