GREENBRIER The White House High School softball team extended its season by breaking out its big bats.
The Lady Devils hit three home runs, eliminating Westmoreland from the District 9-AA Tournament with Wednesday evening’s 7-2 win at Greenbrier High School.
“It’s tournament time,” White House senior shortstop Savannah Fuston said. “Every year, tournament time is our game time. This is our go time.
“From our freshman year, the first day of practice, Coach (Cindy Towers) says, ‘we’re working for district (tournament).’”

Fuston hit back-to-back home runs along with junior teammate Stephanie Palmer during the seventh inning, after freshman Mallory Gut hit a two-run home run in the sixth.
“It’s definitely the best feeling in the world to see your babies (underclassmen) do that,” Fuston said. “Mallory has been wanting that all year long.
“We don’t get out there to hit home runs. We get out there to get a base hit.”

“We have hit the past couple of days (in a 4-2 win over Harpeth and an 11-8 win over Cheatham County on Tuesday),” Westmoreland head coach Kyla White – whose squad suffered losses of 4-2 and 3-1 to White House during the regular season – said. “We left the bases loaded (in the fourth inning). We just couldn’t string anything together.”
