MT. JULIET Portland High’s volleyball team punched its ticket to the region tournament for the seventh consecutive season on Tuesday evening, defeating second-seeded Station Camp in four sets to advance to Thursday’s District 9-AAA championship match.
The third-seeded Lady Panthers’ 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17 victory puts them in the final against fifth-seeded Wilson Central, who defeated top-seeded Mt. Juliet in four sets in Tuesday’s first semifinal match.

The Lady Crusaders fell to Knoxville Webb and Friendship Christian, each in three sets, slotting them fourth for next week’s tournament.

Hendersonville 3, Station Camp 2 (penalty kicks)
GALLATIN Hendersonville won the District 9-AAA regular-season title after holding on for a 3-2 victory at Station Camp that needed penalty kicks to decide.
Station Camp’s Megan Brinkley scored with 17 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, in which neither side could break through during 20 minutes of extra time. Haley Stevens had given Hendersonville a 2-1 lead with less than five minutes remaining.
Sydney Cason, Brooke Long, Arden Butler and Morgan Wettengel all connected on their penalty kicks for the Lady Commandos, while Macy Carter netted the lone Station Camp goal in the shootout.
Meagan Lombardi gave Station Camp a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, while Sydney Cason connected for the Lady Commandos three minutes into the second half.

Merrol Hyde Magnet 5, White House 4
HENDERSONVILLE Merrol Hyde Magnet defeated White House for the first time in school history on Tuesday evening, besting the Lady Devils 5-4.
Emilie Boone, Paige Clinard, Abbott Gailmard and Addison Oaks scored for the Lady Hawks, who also benefitted from an own goal.
Skylar Bentley added two assists, while Oaks and Gabby Wakefield also assisted in the Lady Hawks’ victory.
Beech 1, Portland 0
Jana Claire Swafford scored the lone goal as Beech collected a 1-0 victory at Portland.
The Lady Bucs finished with the No. 5 seed and will face Gallatin in the District 9-AAA Tournament quarterfinals.
