The Christ Presbyterian Academy boys golf team holds a one-stroke lead over Knoxville Catholic following the first round of the Class A-AA State Tournament at Manchester’s WillowBrook Golf Club.
Christ Presbyterian Academy senior Luke Zieman shot 75 on Tuesday to help the Lions take a one-stroke lead into Wednesday’s final day of the Class A-AA State Golf Tournament.
CPA’s A. Jacks Green (tied for fifth) and Luke Zieman (tied for 10th) shot 74 and 75, respectively.
Knox Catholic’s Kyle Cottam, a Clemson commitment, shot a 3-under 69 leads Carter’s Jake Mynatt by one stroke.
Goodpasture’s Jay Fox is in fourth after shooting 74.
Macon County’s Josh Hauskin and Greenbrier’s Jeffrey Hooper are also tied for fifth, and Page’s John Korjenek is among the five-way tie for 10th.
CPA golf squads seek state titles
The Macon County boys are tied for third, eight strokes back of CPA, and Houston County is in a tie for fifth.
The CPA girls are in third place, 19 strokes back of Christian Academy of Knoxville and one behind South Gibson.
Both CPA squads finished as the state runner-up last season, with CAK winning by two strokes.
Clarksville Academy’s girls are tied for fourth place, 21 shots off the pace.
Trinity Christian’s Hannah Bratton posted the top girls’ score of 73 and leads CAK’s Emma Wasson by two strokes. Wasson finished as the state runner-up to CPA’s Siarra Stout last fall, but Stout shot 79 on Tuesday and is tied for sixth with Cheatham County’s Mallory Anderson.
Summertown eighth-grader Kaley Campbell (76) is tied for third, and Lipscomb Academy’s Christina Vetvong (78) is tied for fifth.
St. Andrew’s-Sewanee’s Powell wins Division II-A golf
The final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
