MBA, Ryan golfers tied for third individually at DII-AA state golf

Father Ryan’s Nick Wolf is tied for third at the Division II-AA boys golf state tournament

Montgomery Bell Academy’s Cal Rieke and Father Ryan’s Nick Wolf are tied for third place after the opening round of the TSSAA’s Division II-AA boys golf state tournament.

Rieke and Wolf each shot 1-under 71 at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester and trail Memphis University School’s Goodman Rudolph by two strokes. Baylor’s A.J. Lintunen is second after shooting 2-under.

The second round begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

MUS leads the DII-AA boys team tournament, shooting 4-under 284. MBA is second with a 298.

In Division II-AA girls, St. Agnes leads with a 5-under 139 — 23 shots better than second-place Ensworth. St. Agnes’ team score was one shot from tying the record for best round at the state tournament.

Father Ryan’s Aubrey Frantz is third after shooting a 4-over 76. But Frantz trails St. Agnes’ Rachel Heck by 12 shots. Heck shot an 8-under 64, which tied for the best round in TSSAA girls state tournament history.

Franklin Road Academy’s boys (320) are in second place in DII-A. They trail St. George’s by six strokes. FRA’s Josh Holtschlag is in second place after his round of 72. He trails leader St. George’s Winston Margaritis by four strokes.

St. George’s (155) leads the DII-A girls team tournament by five shots over University School of Jackson and by 10 strokes over Donelson Christian Academy.

St. George’s Victory England leads the DII-A individual tournament with a 74 — one shot better than teammate Megan Tang. Defending state champion Angelina Chan of FRA is in fifth place with a 79.
