Father Ryan will have both its boys and girls golf teams competing in the Golf Capital of Tennessee High School Invitational, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Fairfield Glade’s Heatherhurst Golf Club.
Receiving invitations among the boys’ field were the top three teams from 2015 in each of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s four classifications in golf. All of those 12 programs could not attend, so the 10-team field was comprised of the second and third-place teams in Class AAA (Farragut and Hendersonville), three of the top four teams Class A-AA (CAK, Sullivan South and Lipscomb Academy), the second and third-place teams in Division II-A (Knox Webb and FRA) and the top three teams in Division II-AA (Baylor, Briarcrest and Father Ryan).
In addition to Father Ryan (fourth in Division II-AA), the five girls programs include Baylor (second in Division II-AA), Dobyns-Bennett (second in AAA), Farragut (third in AAA) and Trinity Christian (fifth in A-AA).
The Brentwood boys and Baylor girls won last year’s event.
