GALLATIN Station Camp roared out to a 21-0 first quarter lead en route to a 34-0 victory over visiting Clarksville.

Five things that stood out from Friday’s season-opening shutout:

Starting on the right foot

After dropping the first four contests last season, Station Camp had a much better result with the season opener. The victory over Clarksville avenges last year’s 21-20 loss on the field (before it was forfeited by Clarksville for use of an ineligible player), and it sends the Bison into their Week 2 contest at Wilson Central with some momentum.

No wasting time

The Bison began with 21 points in the first eight minutes, as their hurry-up offense seemed to keep the Wildcats off balance. First-quarter touchdown runs from Kaemon Dunlap, Quan McKinley and Sirtavious Perry paced the offense during the first-quarter flurry.

Balancing act

Station Camp’s offense showed good balance as senior quarterback Tyler Thompson threw for 210 yards, with Austin King and Jett Frost pulling down 200 of those yards. The running game combined for 224 yards, paced by Dunlap’s 145-yard effort.

This shall not pass

In pitching the shutout, the Bison defense allowed Clarksville to reach Station Camp territory on only two drives. The Wildcats reached the red zone only once, and missed a field goal once they were inside the Bison 20-yard line.

Plenty to go around

Eight different Station Camp backs had at least one carry, including seven in the first half.
