HENDERSONVILLE The top-seeded Hendersonville High softball team moved one step closer to a Region 5-AAA Tournament berth with a 5-3 victory over fourth-seeded Lebanon in Tuesday evening’s District 9-AAA Tournament winners bracket semifinals at Veterans Park.
Senior Carley Carlisle hit two home runs – giving her eight for the season – and drove in three runs to lead the Lady Commandos (34-12-1).

In the pitcher’s circle, senior Hannah Thompson tossed four scoreless innings in relief of Carlisle, and junior Morgan Burton needed only six pitches to close a perfect seventh inning for the save.
Juniors Lexi Revis and Ace Hanson had two hits each for Hendersonville, which advances to Thursday’s winners bracket final to face Wilson Central at 7 p.m. That contest is slated to take place at Volunteer State Community College.
Lady Bucs fall into losers’ bracket
Wilson Central scored four runs in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and send the Lady Buccaneers (21-17-1) into the losers bracket to face Portland at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. HENDERSONVILLE The second-seeded Beech High softball team suffered a 5-1 loss to third-seeded Wilson Central in Tuesday evening’s District 9-AAA Tournament winners bracket semifinal at Veterans Park.
Beech’s lone run came on senior Abbie Vaughn’s fourth-inning double, driving in sophomore Kaylor Chaffin.
Both Chaffin senior Ashton Hayden had two of the Lady Bucs’ six hits.
Senior Ashley Graves suffered the pitching loss, allowing five runs on eight hits over six innings.
Lady Bison eliminated
HENDERSONVILLE The seventh-seeded Station Camp High softball team suffered a season-ending, 11-1 loss in five innings to sixth-seeded Mt. Juliet in the District 9-AAA Tournament on Monday evening at Veterans Park.
Station Camp (7-30) was limited to three hits in the loss, and senior Chasity Wheeley’s fourth-inning double drove in sophomore Jordan Hodge with the lone Lady Bison run.
Station Camp loses three seniors – Wheeley, Ashlyn Stewart and Taylor Gaines.
Portland knocks out Gallatin
HENDERSONVILLE The fifth-seeded Portland High softball team eliminated eighth-seeded Gallatin on Monday evening, a 10-0, five-inning victory over the Lady Wave in the District 9-AAA Tournament losers bracket at Veterans Park.
Lady Panther sophomore Baleigh Bennett homered twice for Portland (12-21-1).
Gallatin finished the season with a record of 7-20 and loses one senior, Rene’ Hudson.
Portland faces Beech in another elimination contest on Wednesday.
