PLEASANT VIEW The seventh-seeded Westmoreland High baseball team rolled to a 10-5 victory over No. 4 seed Greenbrier on Friday afternoon before falling into the losers bracket of the District 9-AA Tournament due to a 9-1 loss top seed and site host Sycamore later on Friday evening.
Eagle junior Lochlan Waid and seniors Tyler McLoughlin and Brandon Green all had three hits.
Senior Dakota White picked up the complete-game victory.
Westmoreland (11-17) erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning.
The Eagles moved into another match-up with Greenbrier on Saturday, an elimination game.
Blue Devils down Harpeth
WHITE HOUSE The second-seeded White House High baseball team moved to within a win of claiming a regional berth with Friday evening’s 6-0 victory over visiting Harpeth.
The fifth-seeded Indians captured a 5-1 victory over White House Heritage earlier on Friday evening to move into Friday night’s match-up.
Senior Landon Sewell (7-0) pitched into the fourth inning for the Blue Devils before junior Hunter Neumair came on to pitch the rest of the contest, earning a save.
White House (15-10) finished with eight hits.
The Blue Devils advanced to face the winner of Saturday’s Harpeth/White House Heritage contest – with Saturday’s loser being eliminated – on Monday at 5 p.m.
Lady Devils open with a win
WHITE HOUSE The third-seeded White House High softball team rolled to a 14-0, five-inning victory over No. 6 seed Harpeth on Thursday evening in the two teams’ District 9-AA Tournament opener at Greenbrier High School.
Senior Madisen Adkins picked up the complete-game victory for the Lady Devils, who improved to 20-18.
White House advanced to face No. 2 seed White House Heritage in a winners bracket semifinal contest on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Lady Eagles shut down by Heritage
GREENBRIER The Westmoreland High softball team suffered an 11-0, five-inning loss to second-seeded White House Heritage on Thursday evening in the opening round of the District 9-AA Tournament at Greenbrier High School.
The seventh-seeded Lady Eagles were limited to one hit in the loss, a single by sophomore Kendall Goodrum.
Westmoreland fell into the losers bracket and was slated to face sixth-seeded Harpeth in an elimination game on Friday.
Knights shut out by McCallie
The Pope John Paul II High baseball team suffered a 9-0 loss to visiting McCallie on Friday evening.
The Knights (16-14 overall, 11-5 in the Division II-Class AA East/Middle Region) were limited to three hits in the contest, with the loss eliminating them from contention from the region title.
Junior Mason Hickman – a Vanderbilt University commitment – suffered the loss, allowing seven runs over 5 1/3 innings. Hickman collected seven strikeouts and issued five walks.
