WESTMORELAND White House High senior pitcher Landon Sewell became aware that he had a perfect game in the fifth inning.
Blue Devil head coach Seth Long became aware that Sewell wasn’t feeling well during a second-inning visit to the mound.
“I had an upset stomach,” Sewell said. “He said, ‘are you okay?’ I said, ‘yes sir.’ He said, ‘alright, just keep going.’”

Sewell took a perfect game into the seventh inning, but Westmoreland junior Lochlan Waid broke it up with an infield single to lead off the frame. Sewell left the game at that point, but the Blue Devils held on for a 7-3 victory.
“I checked on him about five more times,” Long said.
The Freed-Hardeman University signee struck out 11 hitters, improving to 5-0.

Waid grounded a ball to the right side of the infield that junior second baseman Tanner Pharris slid to stop. However, he wasn’t able to control it and throw Waid out.

“I have teammates behind me,” Sewell – who threw a no-hitter during his sophomore season at Dyer County High School – said. “I’m glad he stopped it. As long as we come out with a win, I’m satisfied.”
Waid scored on junior Brycen Carter’s groundout, and sophomore Logan Abell singled in senior Brandon Green later in the inning and then scored the game’s final run.

“I was impressed,” Eagle head coach Will Troutt said of Sewell. “All weekend, we talked about getting our foot down and hands back, trying to get on it early, but he’s a good pitcher. He gave us fits. We’ve been struggling offensively anyways.”

Sewell’s successful squeeze bunt in the third inning allowed classmate Luke Hopkins to score, and a throwing error on the play led to senior Jake Jarvis and freshman Aaron Worrell crossing the plate.
Seniors Brian Mullins and Noah Burden scored on fourth-inning errors, and Burden and Kevin James drove in runs in the fifth and sixth frames, respectively.
