2016 BOYS BOWLER OF THE YEAR:
Luke Flatt
Columbia Central
Freshman
Why chosen: Flatt, the younger brother of two-time defending individual champion Cole Flatt, captured his first Division I individual state championship by topping teammate Jonathan Colbaugh 246-188 in the title match. Flatt, who averaged a state-leading 224 during the regular season, also helped lead the District 8 champion and Region 4 runner-up Lions to a fourth consecutive team championship.
Quote: “I think we all knew that we had to step up our game and work a little harder than we normally did. We always worked hard; but we knew it was going to take hard work and coming together as a team. (The losses were) kind of an eye opener for us. We knew we couldn’t take it for granted; we still had to work on our game and bowl good … It was a pretty good season. I don’t think it could have gone any better for us.”
College plans: “I plan on playing baseball in college.”
Family: Parents Gary and Lisa, brothers Garrett (27), Jake (26) and Cole (17).
