Page High School
After more than a decade serving Midstate high school basketball teams as an assistant, Larry Noe is finally in charge of his own program after being named the Page High School boys head basketball coach Friday.
“It’s a humble feeling to be in it for so long and finally get the opportunity to come out and help student athletes become successful,” Noe said. “I’m very excited for the opportunity.”
Noe replaces Ralph Ringstaff, who led the Patriots to a 31-48 record in three seasons before stepping down after the season to focus on his current administrative duties.
This will not be Noe’s first go-around at Page, and it’s been quite a journey to return as the boys head coach.
Noe began coaching as an assistant girls basketball coach at Page in 2001 under current Franklin girls coach and good friend Darrell Barnwell. He stayed at Page until 2004 then left to help open up Independence for one season before spending two years as the boys head coach at Heritage Middle School.
After that, Noe returned to Page as a boys assistant for three years, then Independence again for three more seasons before leaving for Franklin, where he was an assistant to Barnwell again last season.
After bouncing around Williamson County for year, Noe said he is thankful to be back where he started.
“It feels real good to be back,” Noe said. “I live in this community and these kids are neighbors so I’m very excited about that.”
Page is excited to have him as well.
“He kind of brings a toughness to the program that we felt was important for our kids,” Page athletics director Charles Rathbone said.
Noe had the chance to meet with his guys Friday morning and laid out his primary goal for the team.
“I think they were a little scared of seeing a change but they were excited,” he said. “Our biggest goal and biggest challenge right now is to get our student athlete to become mentally and physically tough.”
That’s exactly what Page is looking for.
“He’s going to demand excellence from them and that’s what we want here at Page,” Rathbone said. “Hopefully he’ll bring that to the basketball floor and we‘ll start to see results immediately.”
