MURFREESBORO Six different goal scorers tallied for the Merrol Hyde Magnet girls soccer team on Wednesday evening as the Lady Hawks defeated Macon County 10-0 in the District 8 A-AA Tournament semifinals.
Emilie Boone, Addison Oaks, Abigail Oaks and Abbott Gailmard each netted two goals, while Gabby Wakefield and Katie Hull each scored once.
Skylar Bentley added three assists, with Addison Oaks providing two helpers and Boone, Williamson and Paige Clinard each assisting on one goal.
Gabrielle Steiner made four saves in the shutout.
The Lady Hawks advance to Friday’s final to face Central Magnet and will participate in next week’s Region 4-2A Tournament for the third time in four years.
Knights win regular season opener
NASHVILLE The Pope John Paul II High hockey team won its regular season opener in Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey league play on Wednesday evening, defeating Hume-Fogg/Page 3-1 at Centennial Sportsplex.
Kenner Lycans and Jake Fischer each scored for the Knights.
