MT. JULIET Portland High’s volleyball team won its fourth District 9-AAA Tournament championship in the last five years, defeating Wilson Central 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24 on Thursday evening at Mt. Juliet High School.

The third-seeded Lady Panthers advance to face Clarksville Northeast in the semifinals of the Region 5-AAA Tournament on Monday at Clarksville High School. Wilson Central faces Clarksville at 4 p.m., with the Portland-Northeast match afterward. The championship match will follow the two semifinal matchups.

Hendersonville 6, Gallatin 3: Jada Campbell scored twice as Hendersonville (12-2-2) pulled away from Gallatin in each team’s regular-season finale.

Haley Stevens, Lydia Hampton, Sydney Cason and Jessi Ashworth also scored for the Lady Commandos, who open the District 9-AAA Tournament at noon Saturday against eighth-seeded Wilson Central.

Veda Hooge scored all three of Gallatin’s goals. The fourth-seeded Lady Wave (10-5) face fifth-seeded Beech at 4 p.m. Saturday.

White House 4, Beech 1: Junior Madisson Davis netted a hat trick and Madeline Hargrove also scored as White House defeated visiting Beech 4-1 on Thursday evening.

Davis has 39 goals this season and 99 for her career.

Beech fell to 7-9 with the loss, while White House improved to 12-5 and will host Forrest on Monday in the District 9 A-AA Tournament quarterfinals.

Merrol Hyde Magnet 2, Lipscomb Academy 1: Emilie Boone scored twice on senior night as Merrol Hyde Magnet defeated visiting Lipscomb Academy 2-1 on Thursday evening.

Gabby Wakefield and Josephine Hozan provided the assists for the Lady Hawks (8-5-1), who face Smith County on Monday in the District 8 A-AA tournament.
