CROSS PLAINS – The East Robertson’s girls’ soccer team has been on a roll this season and the team was hoping for more of the same heading into Thursday’s game with McEwen.

As it turned out, senior Ashlyn Hebert and junior Camryn Evilcizer ended the contest with three goals apiece, scoring a hat trick to beat the Lady Warriors, 7-0.

Ashlyn Hebert scored a hat trick Thursday, making it 54 goals on the season.

“This was a huge win for us,” Evilcizer said. “We wanted to make sure the seniors left our field with a win on senior night because this is a game that none of us will ever forget.”

For Hebert, one of only four seniors on this year’s squad, it was business as usual Thursday as her three goals brought her season total to 54 goals.

Goalkeeper Adison Brown sealed the Lady Indians’ win over McEwen by stopping all eight of the Lady Warriors’ shot attempts.

As the Lady Indians prepare for their final District 10-A, AA contest of the season, here are five things we learned from Thursday’s win.

1 – The East Robertson girls’ soccer team isn’t just a one-trick pony. While Hebert is scoring goals at a frenzied rate, Evilcizer showed that the Lady Indians also have other options.

Camryn Evilcizer scored all three of her goals in the first half of Thursday night's 7-0 win over McEwen.

2 – Hebert isn’t in it for herself. While she did hit her three goal average Thursday, she also passed the ball to teammates inside the box several times as opposed to taking the shots on her own.

3 – As good as the offense has been, the East Robertson defense has been just as good. Goalkeeper Brown has had seven shutouts this season.

4 – The Lady Indians have a nine-game winning streak. With Thursday’s victory over McEwen, East Robertson is now 11-5 on the season and 3-1 in the district.

5 – The injury bug has hit East Robertson hard this season, but that has made the team closer, according to Coach Todd Evilcizer.

“If someone would’ve told me we would’ve been where we are now when we entered the season, I would’ve called [them] crazy,” the coach said. “We started with 20 girls, then had seven go down with injury, so we had to recruit five more girls that have never played the game of soccer before.

“We’ve defied the odds, but that’s a testament to our girls and their hard work.”
