For the first time since week one, the Creek Wood Red Hawks are coming off a win after their 43-6 drubbing of East Hickman on homecoming night.

The Red Hawks, however, are looking forward and not looking back. They now prepare to make it two in a row, as they’ll face Hillwood tonight in Class 6-4A action.

“They’re very athletic,” said Creek Wood coach Chuck Daniel.

“They like to throw the football. We can’t let their receivers get behind us. They play downhill as opposed to uphill.”

The Hilltoppers are sitting at .500 with a 3-3 record (1-1 in region) and coming off a loss to Whites Creek. Their ,lone region win was a 43-42 overtime victory against Kenwood.

Last year’s contest saw the Hilltoppers win 28-24.

Daniel believes that his team is riding a wave a confidence after last week’s win, and that it’s carried over to the practice field. He’s hoping it will translate onto the playing field when it counts the most.

“We’ve had a couple of good practices this week,” said Daniel.

“Our kids played with some confidence last week. We executed pretty well last week, and we’ll have to carry that over to this week. We’ve got to stay focused.”

A win for Creek Wood would give them their first region win of the season, and keep them alive in the possible hunt for a spot in the Class 4A state playoffs.
